FOR THE RECORD Dan Aibel, CONTRAPOSITIVE's editor, is in no way affiliated with Vetco Aibel AS, a Norwegian oil and gas company subsidiary with 5,000 employees in seventeen countries. (The subsidiary was known as ABB Offshore Systems until July 12 of this year.)
In fact, as Magnar Hjollo, Communications Manager of Vetco Aibel AS explained in a recent e-mail:
The Aibel name is a constructed name, meaning nothing, but giving associations to the word "to be able to."Dan is trying not to take it personally.
